CHARLOTTE, NC September 15, 2025 – Charlotte Angel Fund announced its seed investments in Science on Call (https://scienceoncall.com) and VBASE Oil Company (https://vbaseoil.com) this week.

Science On Call, of Chicago, Ill., is a workflow AI platform for restaurants. Science On Call leverages conversational AI and automation to quickly and accurately define, triage, and execute solutions in a frictionless manner via SMS, Whatsapp or email. Science On Call CEO Andy Freivogel shared, "Charlotte Angel Fund ran a really thoughtful process in evaluating Science On Call. We knew from early on they would be a great partner, and while fundraising can create a lot of anxiety for founders, it was immediately apparent that we'd find a cultural and operational alignment with CAF. VBASE Oil Company is a Pendleton, S.C. company that is developing innovative base oil lubricants used in critical industrial sectors such as hydropower, food-grade processing, and high-efficiency gear and hydraulic systems. VBASE oils offer higher performance capabilities with better sustainability attributes than alternatives in the market. “We’re grateful to Charlotte Angel Fund for their belief in our mission and our team. These are Charlotte Angel Fund’s second and third investments made in 2025. In 2024, Charlotte Angel Fund made five investments, four of which were in companies based in Charlotte, N.C. Science on Call and VBASE Oil Company join 36 other companies in Charlotte Angel Fund’s investment portfolio.
Also this week, Charlotte Angel Fund announced that it increased its investment in Durham, N.C.-based portfolio company Archaius (https://archaius.net/). This new investment will accelerate deployment of Archaius’ flagship products, GRALE C2, GRALE GPS, and TALON, into the hands of U.S. and allied forces. Charlotte Angel Fund first invested in Archaius in February, 2023.
